Dr Harshini Rajapakse is a Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna and an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. She trained in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at the Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS trust, UK. She was awarded a PhD by the University of Durham, UK for research on Medically Unexplained Symptoms.
She received Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London. Her clinical interests are in Liaison psychiatry and psychotherapy. Her work extends to cardiac rehabilitation services, renal transplant services and gender identity disorder services. Her academic and research interests include medical humanities and epidemiology of medically unexplained symptoms and delivered the SLMA Sir Nicholas Attygalle oration. She is the PRO of the SLCP, a council member of the CCP and the secretary of the SLMA ethics committee. She is a Visharad in North Indian Classical Music and Dance.
