Dr. Martin Cooper is Consultant Stroke Physician and Clinical Lead for Stroke, Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Nottinghamshire, UK. Having completed his specialist training in Geriatric and General Internal Medicine in Sheffield he took up a Stroke Training Fellowship in Edinburgh. He worked as Consultant Physician at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. He is currently the Consultant Stroke Physician and Clinical Lead for Stroke at Sherwood Forest Hospitals in Nottinghamshire.

He established the integrated stroke service, introduced thrombolysis for acute ischaemic stroke and set up the Early Supported Discharge Team for Stroke. He has been Principal Investigator for a number of international stroke trials, including the influential FOOD and CLOTS studies. He has a passion for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and sit on the regional Specialist Training Committee for Geriatric Medicine.
