IST (Initiative for Stroke Thrombolysis)

We are pleased to announce the IST (Initiative for Stroke Thrombolysis) program conducted by the Sri Lanka College of Internal Medicine (SLCIM) to improve Acute Stroke Care and expand the use of thrombolytic therapy for patients with acute ischemic stroke in Sri Lanka.

The initiative focuses on enhancing rapid recognition of stroke symptoms, ensuring timely access to CT imaging, promoting the safe administration of intravenous thrombolysis, and reducing door-to-needle time in hospitals.

This is our third programme under the initiative. In addition, through this programme, we introduce ischemic stroke thrombolysis services to hospitals where the service is not yet established.
